Recipes For Recovery

Curing oneself with the condition called acid reflux disease can be accomplished by using natural, healthy methods. I experienced this problem for many years, taking harmful, expensive PPI drugs (proton inhibitors), which only masked the symptoms. These drugs, not merely had myriad side effects, but became ineffective over time. I was forced to find another answer. I desired to cure myself without using drugs. My doctor wasn't any help. He did not have a hint about healing and nutrition. After a great deal of research I discover that with the proper use of herbs, health store items, meditation, diet and exercise, it's possible to heal themselves of acid reflux disorder.

The first thing that I learned is always that acid reflux, sometimes called gerd (gastro esophageal reflux disease), isn't a disease at all. Despite exactly what the medical community might have us believe, it is simply an ailment, due to poor eating habits. Besides eating foods that cause problems, not chewing food properly is probably the root cause with this ailment.



The Acid reflux disorder condition wouldn't normally exist without a damaged esophagus plus a weakened LES (lower esophageal sphincter). When the condition is to be eliminated, healing the esophagus should be the first order of economic.



With this reflux recovery period, eating anything which may irritate or damage the esophagus, has to be avoided. Things such as poorly chewed chips, crackers, cereal or any hard foods with sharp edges are culinary culprits - they cause little lacerations to develop in the esophagus. Until the lacerations have had a chance to heal, spicy foods, including acidic tomato products, hot peppers, raw garlic and raw onions also need to be eliminated in the diet. They just further irritate the condition. Cigarettes and alcohol relax the LES, allowing stomach acid to splash up in to the esophagus, thus impeding the healing process.



The key to acid reflux disease recovery is to consume only mild, easy to digest food until the esophagus has healed. Eat early, giving yourself no less than three hours of sitting or walking time before prone. Eat slowly and chew your meal completely. And last, although not least, try eating in the relaxed, pleasant environment.



These are simply several of my personal favorite recipes i enjoyed within my own recovery period. They can be made easily and quickly. Try doubling these recipes to enable you to reheat them later in the week.....a shorter period in the kitchen. Keep in mind that cooking on your own, as opposed to relying on convenience foods, is the perfect approach to health, in general. It's also nice to be aware what you are really eating.



For breakfast, I believe that fresh fruit is the best strategy to use. I especially like melon and papaya. For supper I eat more fruit like apples, bananas and, perhaps some almonds, or walnuts. It's easier to eat many little healthy meals during the day. I attempt to purchase only organic fruits, however, on occasions when I will be rushed, I order "ready to go" containers of mixed fruit in the grocery store. Attempt to avoid pineapple, when i battle to digest.



Think about starters at night? Serving vegetables raw may be the ultimate healthy method to present them.



Try making a beautiful platter of crudité (crew di tay) also known as elegant rabbit food. Serve it using a savory tofu dip. Use cauliflower, broccoli, English cucumbers, radishes, green & yellow zucchinis, Belgium endive, carrot sticks, whole small mushrooms, or whatever you like. Cut the vegetables in bite size pieces for dipping. The Belgium endive is a natural edible scoop for dipping. Just stop the ends and peel off the leaves.



Result in the tofu dip by putting one package of sentimental or silken tofu in a blender or blender, adding garlic powder, cumin, paprika and chopped chives or parsley for flavor and color. Season with salt & pepper to taste. Add a little fresh squeezed lemon juice when the mixture is just too thick. Process until smooth and creamy. In case you are in a hurry, premade dips and raw vegetable platters can be found in the produce sections of most supermarkets, but create a concerted effort you can eat only organic, if at all possible.

I hope that you enjoy the following dishes. Even though I've cured myself of acid reflux disorder, I still cook these recipes frequently. I favor food slightly under cooked. You can adjust the cooking times and seasonings to your own taste.
